Rightful Housing Message from Chair Jayne Knight

MESSAGE

Rightful Housing is pleased to announce that it was registered as a Community Benefit Society on the 8th July this year.

We are registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and we are a charity and not-for-profit. The registered society number is 8154. This type of organisation is the best type for not-for-profit housing associations especially if we continue to pursue registration with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), the regulatory body for Housing Associations. This application for HCA status will take us longer, usually up to a year, but we can still operate in the meantime building up as a specialist housing charity.

I have been involved in housing and support for people with higher level support and care needs for 35 years. I have seen the best situations happen for people with these needs whilst working and advising in a range of organisations, mainly the statutory and charitable sector. Although for many years I have worked at Chief Officer level and as a consultant, my remuneration and ethics have always meant that I have been paid a reasonable salary for my work. I do not believe charities and housing associations should be making huge profits and paying ridiculous salaries to their management.
I have provided an independent voluntary advocacy service to some of the most vulnerable people in society and give advice through my voluntary site, Youknow. I am in regular contact with tenants, both current and prospective, as well as their families and advocates. I asked permission if we could use the word "rightful" in our housing charity from the Rightful Lives Campaign and I was thrilled to have their endorsement.
We are launching fully in September 2019 but this is a holding page to tell you a little about our Board Members and what we will be doing because we have already started to have enquiries. The Board Member information will be available in two weeks. We are meeting on the 30th of this month just to finalise some arrangements. We will make sure this website has interesting and up to date information to keep you in the loop.

We will be working across England and hopefully throughout the UK eventually.

We will be focusing first on people with high level needs who need to get out of assessment units and registered homes and into their own accommodation. We will also prevent people from ever entering these places by providing appropriate accommodation as a first choice.

Our highly experienced Board knows exactly what it is doing in specialist housing and has the drive, determination and experience to make it work. We will use every method known to get housing and actively refer people to similar organisations that we work with if they have something more appropriate for the individual housing need.

Our housing will be bespoke, safe and secure.

Our referral form will be available in September on line but in the meantime you can contact me, Jayne Knight on:

Mobile number 07940906722. Please text and I will arrange a time to ring you back.

The registered office address is:

Rightful Housing Community Benefit Society (FCA registration 1854)

You will receive a correspondence address once we are in dialogue or email if necessary. We are in the process of setting up all of these systems.
